Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development 2020 [Postponed]

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this event has been postponed. The Commission will advise Forum participants of the new place and date for the fourth meeting once the present complex situation has abated.

A virtual Forum was originally expected to take the place of the Forum, on 31 March, but was cancelled due to “the technical impossibility of ensuring the proper participation of all the national delegations, civil society and other stakeholders in the Forum in a remote meeting modality.” The fourth meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development was originally scheduled to take place from 28-31 March 2020, in Havana, Cuba.

At the thirty-sixth session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), held in Mexico City from 23-27 May 2016, the member States adopted resolution 700 (XXXVI), Mexico Resolution, establishing the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development as a regional mechanism to follow up and review the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals and targets, its means of implementation, and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda.
