The First Session of the Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) will consider the draft outcome document of the Conference. The session will also hear opening and closing statements and discuss Conference preparations.

The Third UN Conference on LLDCs will explore innovative solutions to challenges faced by LLDCs and build meaningful, strategic partnerships to unlock the potential of LLDCs. The Conference will convene under the theme, ‘Driving Partnerships for Progress’. 

LLDCs face major constraints to meaningfully benefit from globalization because of their geographic remoteness and lack of direct access to major global markets. In recognition of this context, the event will consider how to address the unique situation of LLDCs, with the broader aim of accelerating their socioeconomic growth and progress towards the SDGs.
