Expert Meeting on Leveraging Blended Finance for Forest Value Chains in Developing Countries

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) will convene an expert meeting that will address key finance questions to advance sustainable forest management (SFM) and unlock all forest contributions to sustainable development, including how to: incentivize and leverage private finance and expertise, especially in the countries and landscapes where it is most needed; ensure that finance reaches and benefits smallholder and producer organizations; and promote vertical and horizontal integration as strategies to improve access to finance.

The meeting aims to, inter alia: present and discuss the Forest Finance Information Hub (FFIH) concept proposal; assess potential synergies and complementarities with other similar/relevant initiatives both within FAO and with other partners; collect inputs from stakeholders on best approaches to implementing the FFIH; and draft a roadmap for developing collaborative approach to implement the FFIH.
