This conference will bring together senior government officials, policymakers and others from the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) region to review progress and remaining challenges in the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (Beijing+20) and to reaffirm Arab States' commitments to the principles of the Beijing Declaration. Participants will also review the ‘Arab Regional Synthesis Report on the Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action in the Arab Region after 20 Years,' which was prepared based on national reports from 21 Arab countries. Recommendations from the conference will serve as an input to the 59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 59), in March 2015. ESCWA and UN Women are organizing the conference as part of a series of regional consultations on the Beijing+20 Review. The League of Arab States and the UN Population Fund's (UNFPA) Arab Regional Office are also contributing to the conference's organization.
