This workshop is jointly organized by the Veolia Environment Institute, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the US National Research Council (NRC) Water Science and Technology Board. The UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is an associate partner. The workshop will provide an international platform for scientists, practitioners, NGOs, business leaders and policymakers to discuss remarkable case studies, best practices and share better insights on the potential of large-scale ecosystem restoration for the improvement of people's livelihoods, job creation and socio-economic development, together with the recovery of ecosystems functionalities, continuity and biodiversity. The workshop will also consider the actions needed to achieve the Aichi Biodiversity Target on restoration, the European Union Biodiversity Strategy and REDD+ goals.
