64th Session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC)

The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet for its 64th session in London, UK, from 1-5 October 2012. Among other items, the MEPC will consider: matters relating to the implementation of energy efficiency, ballast water management and ship-recycling regulations; the designation of a Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA) in the North-eastern Caribbean area of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; market-based measures to address the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs); the availability of fuel oil to meet air pollution requirements; guidelines for the recycling of ships; and sewage treatment plant guidelines.
