Hosted by Columbia University, the 2015 International Conference on Sustainable Development will be held on the theme ‘Implementing the SDGs: Getting Started'. The Conference will seek to identify and share practical, evidence-based solutions that can support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which should be agreed upon during the UN post-2015 Summit in September 2015. It will comprise discussions on implementing the SDGs, the future of global health and mobilizing the private sector for sustainable development. The Conference will bring together stakeholders from government, academia, the UN, international agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and grassroots organizers to share practical solutions towards the achievement of more sustainable and inclusive societies. Confirmed speakers include Peter Bakker, President, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Jan Eliasson, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Femi Oke, internationally-renowned journalist, Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland, and Jeffrey Sachs, Director of The Earth Institute and of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Columbia University.
