13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

The 13th UN Crime Congress will convene under the theme ‘Integrating crime prevention and criminal justice into the wider UN agenda to address social and economic challenges and to promote the rule of law at the national and international levels, and public participation.' Participants will discuss: the links between crime prevention, security, justice and sustainable development; successes and challenges in implementation of policies and strategies for preventing crime and criminal justice in order to strengthen the rule of law and support sustainable development; international cooperation to prevent, combat and respond to transnational organized crime; and national approaches to public participation in strengthening crime prevention and criminal justice. The event will also feature side events, including on wildlife and forest crime. The Congress is expected to adopt the ‘Doha Declaration,' which will contain recommendations for the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in May 2015.
