The annual Board meeting of the Ramsar Regional Center for Wetland Training and Research in the Western Hemisphere (CREHO), based in Panama, was held on 2 May 2006.

The Board emphasized the need for conservation and wise use of wetlands, through strengthening technical capacities of decision makers and wetland managers in the Americas, and highlighted the role of CREHO as a driving force of capacity building processes.
