UNFCCC23 September 2016: Since the Bonn Climate Change Conference, five Parties have accepted the Doha Amendment, bringing the total number of ratifications to 70. The Amendment will enter into force when 144 or three-quarters of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol have submitted their instruments of acceptance to the Depositary.

Antigua and Barbuda submitted its instrument of acceptance on 23 September 2016; Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Swaziland on 21 September 2016; and Italy on 18 July 2016.

The Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol was adopted by Decision 1/CMP.8 at the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 8), which took place in Doha, Qatar, from 26 November to 8 December 2012.
