16 April 2012: David Kaluba, Chief Economist for Zambia’s Ministry of Finance and National Development, has offered insights on his country’s experience in hosting a Pilot Countries Meeting for the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Pilot Programme on Climate Resilience (PPCR), highlighting that country meetings provide an opportunity to see sustainable development challenges first hand.

He provided an overview of lessons learned in organizing pilot country meetings, stressing the need to: identify the objectives of the meeting and build a team to ensure relevant participation by high level officials; gather a technical committee to provide the necessary information and share the tasks; ensure the participation of local multilateral development banks as priority supporters; and clear immigration issues for participants well in advance.
