WTO Director-General Speaks on Multilateral Economic System of the Future

6 September 2011: In a speech on the multilateral trading system of the future, World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Pascal Lamy highlighted that the boundaries between climate change and trade policies are increasingly blurred.

Speaking at an event organized by CUTS International (Consumer Unity and Trust Society) in Delhi, India, Lamy said the multilateral trading system of the future will have to address a number of global challenges, including “the blurring of the edges between trade policy and others such as exchange rate policies, climate change policies, food security policies or energy policies.” [WTO Press Release]
