World Bank, GEF Project Supports Energy Efficiency in Viet Nam

The World Bank approved a Global Environment Facility (GEF) grant to support Viet Nam in the implementation of its national energy efficiency programme.

The project will support the development of energy efficiency action plans in key industrial sectors, as well as provide technical assistance to energy service providers to increase the energy market's efficiency.

World Bank5 July 2011: The World Bank will administer a US$2.37 million Global Environment Facility (GEF) grant for the Government of Viet Nam to implement its national energy efficiency programme.

The programme, expected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, will support the development of energy efficiency action plans for key industrial sectors, as well as the establishment and implementation of voluntary agreements with pilot enterprises in such sectors. The project will also provide technical assistance for the development of energy service providers, market players, and other stakeholders to increase energy savings in the energy efficiency market.
