10 July 2013: Representatives from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia attended a regional Workshop for strengthening their capacities for the development of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). Issues addressed at the workshop included the concept of NAMAs, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV), and guidance for NAMA development in the three South Caucasus countries.

The workshop, held on 9-10 July 2013, in Tbilisi, Georgia, was organized by the REC Caucasus (REC C) in the context of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV. The purpose of the initiative was to strengthen countries’ capacities and remove barriers in the elaboration of NAMA proposals. Participants discussed NAMA co-benefits and ongoing NAMA experiences. They also heard country presentations on climate change policy and mitigation actions.

The International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV was launched in May 2010 by South Africa, South Korea and Germany, in the context of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, with the objective of supporting a practical exchange on mitigation-related activities and MRV between developing and developed countries to contribute to close the global ambition gap.
