29 January 2009: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has released its latest Bulletin, which focuses on World Meteorological Day, to be celebrated on 23 March and focused on the theme: “Weather, climate and the air we breathe.”

The Bulletin contains articles on air quality and its manifestation in urban and surrounding regions, couplings with weather and climate change, and the impact of pollutant deposition, including nitrogen, on the upper ocean. It opens with a message from WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud on the occasion of World Meteorological Day, in which he highlights critical linkages between weather, climate, air quality and human health.
