16 July 2009: On 8 July 2009, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which reflects shared concerns about climate change issues and the relation between climate and meteorological aspects on the one hand, and hunger, nutrition and food security on the other.

The MoU aims to enhance collaboration and collective capacity to protect lives and livelihoods of the most vulnerable populations worldwide. [WMO press release]
