4 August 2010: The World Health Organization (WHO), together with the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Government of Costa Rica, organized a meeting in late July 2010 to share experiences in evaluating health risks.

Representatives from 16 countries from all regions of the world discussed draft guidance for health vulnerability and adaptation assessment, produced by PAHO on the basis of earlier work carried out by the WHO European Regional Office. Country representatives presented on their experience in carrying out national assessments and using the draft guidance, making proposals for improving its final version.

A new version of the guidance for health vulnerability and adaptation assessment incorporating national inputs will be published late in 2010. [Climate Health Post]
