WDCD 2015 will feature a global observance event in Milan, Italy, during the 2015 UN Expo as well as national and local observances. The events will call for, inter alia: adapting current land use practices through smart agriculture and adaptation to a changing climate; enhancing access to technology and land rights for smallholder farmers that safeguard the environment and meet the food needs of millions of households; learning from the best practices on the balanced use of land for ecology and consumption; and recognizing the linkages among desertification, food and water scarcity, environmentally forced migration, and peace and security.
