WAZA, WFEN and OuTrop Join GRASP

The Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP) has added three new partners: the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), the Wildlife Friendly Enterprise Network (WFEN), and the Orangutan Tropical Peatland Trust (OuTrop).

The new additions bring the partnership to 98 members.

GRASPOctober 2014: The Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP) has added three new partners: the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), the Wildlife Friendly Enterprise Network (WFEN), and the Orangutan Tropical Peatland Trust (OuTrop). The new additions bring the partnership to 98 members.

GRASP is a an alliance of national governments, research institutions, conservation organizations, UN agencies, and private companies working to ensure the conservation of great apes and their habitat in Africa and Asia. According to a GRASP press release, each GRASP partner receives a vote in the GRASP Council, and is represented through delegates to the GRASP Executive Committee.

WAZA is a global organization of zoos and aquariums worldwide. WFEN is an international consortium dedicated to the development and marketing of products that conserve threatened wildlife and boost local development. OuTrop works to protect tropical rainforests in Borneo, Indonesia, including the peat swamps of Sabangau. [GRASP News]
