10 November 2008: The UN World Tourism Organization’s
(UNWTO) Business Council, with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, will convene a
UNWTO Regional Conference on Climate Solutions for the Tourism Industry for the
Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, from
23-24 November 2008.

The conference, “Tourism: Responding to a Turbulent
Economy and a Changing Climate,” is the first in a series of regional
conferences on climate change planned by UNWTO, and is the successor to
the
Ministers’ Summit that was held 11 November 2008 at the World Travel
Market in
London, UK, on “Responding to the Economic Downturn and Staying on
Course with
the Climate and Poverty Reduction Agenda.” The Middle East conference
seeks to facilitate dialogue among the public and private sectors on
technologies and techniques to support the tourism
