UNITAR Support Zambian Government in Early Minamata Ratification

The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), together with the Government of Switzerland, is providing support to the Government of Zambia through the Zambia Environmental Management Agency on the ratification and early implementation of the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

UNITAR support aims to facilitate decision-making and action, including the development of a Cabinet memo, ratification roadmap, and priority list for implementation.

UNITAR support aims to facilitate decision-making and action, including the development of a Cabinet memo, ratification roadmap, and priority list for implementation. According to UNITAR, the first national workshop took place in February 2014. The workshop was attended by 27 representatives of government, civil society, academia and the private sector.
