12 December 2008: On the sidelines of the 14th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC, which took place in Poznań, Poland, the Climate Change programme of the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) launched a new project on capacity building and adaptation to climate change with seven regional centers of excellence in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.

The project, entitled “Capacity Development for Adaptation to Climate
Change and GHG Mitigation” (C3D+), will be financed through a one
million Euro grant from the European Commission/Cooperation Aid.
The C3D+ network is composed of: the Munasinghe Institute for
Sustainable Development, Sri Lanka; Climate Systems Analysis Group,
University of Cape Town, South Africa; Energy Research Centre,
University of Cape Town, South Africa; Environment Development Action
in the Third World, Senegal; the Caribbean Community Climate Change
Centre, Belize; the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme,
Samoa; and the Centre for International Forestry Research.
