UNITAR Assists Swaziland in Sound Chemicals Management

The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) assisted Swaziland's Ministry of Environment in convening the final workshop under the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) project on 'Developing an Integrated National Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals and SAICM Implementation in Swaziland.'

Unitar8 August 2013: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) assisted Swaziland’s Ministry of Environment in convening the final workshop under the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) project on ‘Developing an Integrated National Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals and SAICM Implementation in Swaziland.’

The workshop took place from 6-8 August 2013, in Mdabane, Swaziland, with participation from 37 representatives of government, industry, academia, civil society organizations.

Participants reviewed and endorsed Swaziland’s National Chemicals Management Profile, and agreed to develop a follow-up project on lead, as well as another initiative related to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). [UNITAR Press Release]
