6 November 2008: The UN Industrial Development Organization
(UNIDO) and the International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies are
jointly organizing the World Hydrogen Energy Summit, to be held in Istanbul,
Turkey, from 15-17 July 2010.

The Summit is based on the projection that by
2030, the developing world is expected to overtake the developed world in terms
of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and that renewables and
hydrogen energy technologies are the most promising to address the energy
crisis. The event will aim to: bring together decision makers and hydrogen
energy specialists; raise awareness about the hydrogen energy system as a
realistic solution to climate change and fossil fuels depletion; and develop a
plan of action on promoting hydrogen energy and renewables in developing
countries. [International
