19 November 2013: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), together with shecco, a market development company, have released a guide on the transition from ozone-depleting substances (ODS) to natural refrigerants and foam-blowing agents. Its main objective is to share experiences in the use of ammonia, carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons, water and air, as part of the ongoing phase-out of ozone-depleting hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) under the Montreal Protocol.

The ‘GUIDE UNIDO – Natural Solutions for Developing Countries’ aims to provide assistance to developing countries and countries with economies in transition looking for alternatives to ODS in the heating, refrigeration, air-conditioning and foam-blowing sectors. The guide includes analysis of technological, market and policy barriers, and 50 case studies.
