August 2008: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is organizing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment of Jordan, an “Eco-cities Forum,” which will take place from 18-20 October 2008, at the Dead Sea in Jordan. The Forum aims to promote awareness, best practices, investment opportunities and technology transfer in the environmental sector in Jordan as well as among municipalities in the Mediterranean region.
Participants will include representatives from both the public and private sectors. The Forum will include sessions examining the challenges faced by Mediterranean cities, including air pollution and water scarcity. Panel discussions and break-out sessions will address green remedies and business solutions, cleaner production, greener buildings and transportation, and renewable energy and energy conservation.
