UNIDO appoints Dr. Pachauri as Goodwill Ambassador
14 July 2008: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has named Rajendra
K. Pachauri, the head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, as one
of its Goodwill Ambassadors.

In a ceremony
in Vienna, UNIDO recognized Dr. Pachauri, who also serves as Director-General
of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), for his efforts in the field of
energy and the environment, one of its three main priorities. Its other two are
trade capacity building and poverty reduction through productive activities. He
joins fellow UNIDO Goodwill Ambassadors Mansour Cama of Senegal, Reinosuke Hara
of Japan, Frederick T. Sumaye of Tanzania, and Peter Denis Sutherland of
