UNGA President Circulates Draft Resolution on 2030 Agenda

The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Sam Kutesa circulated a draft resolution to transmit the outcome document of the UN Summit for the adoption of the post- 2015 development agenda to the UNGA's 70th session, for adoption during the Summit.

He further informed Member States that he will convene a plenary meeting of the UNGA to take action on the draft resolution.

69th Session of the UNGA21 August 2015: The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Sam Kutesa, circulated a draft resolution to transmit the outcome document of the UN Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda to the UNGA’s 70th session, for adoption during the Summit. Kutesa further informed Member States that he will convene a plenary meeting of the UNGA to take action on the draft resolution. The UNGA meeting will take place on 1 September 2015, in New York, US.

The draft Resolution, titled ‘Outcome document of the United Nations Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda’ (A/69/L.85), welcomes the “successful conclusion” of the negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda and the outcome document, titled ‘Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,’ which was agreed by consensus at the informal meeting of the plenary on 2 August 2015. By the resolution, Member States would decide to transmit the outcome document to the UNGA’s 70th session for action during the Summit.
