The formal adoption comes after two years of efforts spearheaded by the Global Soil Partnership and international partners to bring soils to the forefront of international environment and development discussions.
The Global Soil Partnership Secretariat will serve as the Secretariat for the year, and an organizing committee will be established early in 2014 to determine a joint plan of activities for 2015. [Global Soil Partnership Press Release] [UNGA Resolution A/C.2/68/L.52]
