The United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) has released a note summarizing the outcomes of the Facilitative Dialogue Workshop on the International Arrangement on Forests (IAF).

Unff1 November 2013: The United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) has released a note summarizing the outcomes of the Facilitative Dialogue Workshop on the International Arrangement on Forests (IAF).

The workshop discussed the future of multilateral processes related to forests and the ongoing inter-sessessional activities in preparation for the eleventh meeting of the UNFF (UNFF11) to be held May 2015. Discussions revealed the importance of increased political support for sustainable forest management (SFM) as well as greater support for UNFF focal points.

Workshop participants also noted the need for forest indicators linked to internationally agreed sustainable development goals (SDGs), increased awareness of the multiple benefits of forests, and greater support for countries implementing the IAF.

The IAF workshop was held the 22 to 23 October 2013 in Vienna, Austria and included participants from government, international and regional organizations and representatives of stakeholder groups.
