10 July 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the individual review of the greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory submissions of Norway submitted in 2007 and 2008 (FCCC/ARR/2008/NOR).

The Expert Review Team (ERT) finds that the inventory is in line with the Revised 1996 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines, the IPCC good practice guidance and the IPCC good practice guidance for land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF). The report states that the 2008 submission is of a high quality, shows continuous improvements in the major issues and is complete in terms of coverage of years, sectors and gases. However, minor categories are missing in the 2008 submission. During the centralized review, the Expert Review Team also identified a need for further improvements in the following areas: performance of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities; transparency of reporting and consistency between the common reporting format tables; and the national inventory review. Major differences between the 2007 and 2008 inventory submissions were not identified. [The report]
