UNFCCC Reports on 2014-2015 Budget Performance

The UNFCCC Secretariat has received €36.6 million, or 77.2% of the total core budget indicative contributions expected for 2014-2015 during the first 18 months of the biennium, according to a note (FCCC/SBI/2015/13) by the Executive Secretary.

The document, which details the Secretariat's budget performance, also indicates that approximately 75.8% of the 2014-2015 core budget had been spent as of 30 June 2015.

UNFCCC21 September 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has received €36.6 million, or 77.2% of the total core budget indicative contributions expected for 2014-2015 during the first 18 months of the biennium, according to a note (FCCC/SBI/2015/13) by the Executive Secretary. The document, which details the Secretariat’s budget performance, also indicates that approximately 75.8% of the 2014-2015 core budget had been spent as of 30 June 2015.

The report contains information on income and expenditures of the Trust Funds for: the Core Budget; Participation in the UNFCCC Process; Supplementary Activities; the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM); the International Transaction Log; and the Special Annual Contribution from the Government of Germany (Bonn Fund). The report also provides information on human resources and programme support costs.

Voluntary contributions for Participation amounted to US$5.3 million, with US$8.1 million expended for eligible Parties to attend sessional meetings. Voluntary contributions totaling US$24 million were received for Supplementary Activities, with US$30 million spent.

A section on programme delivery highlights activities related to: executive direction and management; mitigation, data and analysis; finance, technology and capacity building; adaptation; sustainable development mechanisms; legal affairs; conference affairs services; communications and outreach; information technology services; and administrative services.

The report will be considered by the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) at its 43rd session. The SBI may decide on actions for inclusion in draft administrative and financial decisions to be recommended for adoption by the Conference of the Parties (COP) at its 21st session and the COP serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) at its 11th session. SBI 43, COP 21 and CMP 11 are all scheduled to take place in Paris, France, during the period 30 November – 11 December 2015.
