UNFCCC22 October 2013: The UNFCCC has released two technical syntheses, one on the framework for various approaches (FVA) and the other on the New Market-based Mechanism (NMM). The documents are relevant to discussions expected to be held during the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UNFCCC, to be held in Warsaw, Poland, from 11-22 November 2013.

The Technical Synthesis on the FVA (FCCC/TP/2013/5) and on the NMM (FCCC/TP/2013/6) are based on parties’ and admitted observer organizations’ submissions that were received between 1 January 2012 and 20 September 2013. They were presented to participants of the workshops on the FVA and the NMM, which was held on 9 October 2013, in Bonn, Germany.

Both documents are expected to inform discussions on the FVA and the NMM in Warsaw, and contain options for decision-making at UNFCCC COP 19. Options presented cover full elaboration of the FVA or modalities for the NMM, partial elaboration of the FVA or modalities for the NMM, and process-related decisions related to both.
