UNFCCC Releases SBSTA Documents for Bonn Session

The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a series of documents that will be discussed by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific and technical Advice (SBSTA) at its 38th session, taking place in Bonn, Germany.

The documents relate to methodological issues related to the Kyoto Protocol, the new market-based mechanism, emissions from international transport, the UNFCCC reporting guidelines, high-carbon reservoirs, and a framework for various approaches.

UNFCCC4 June 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a series of documents that will be discussed by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific and technical Advice (SBSTA) at its 38th session, taking place in Bonn, Germany. The documents relate to methodological issues related to the Kyoto Protocol, the new market-based mechanism, emissions from international transport, the UNFCCC reporting guidelines, high-carbon reservoirs, and a framework for various approaches.

Document FCCC/SBSTA/2013/INF.3 contains the report on the workshop on the implications of the implementation of decisions 2/CMP.7 to 4/CMP.7 and 1/CMP.8 on the previous decisions on methodological issues related to the Kyoto Protocol, including those relating to Articles 5, 7 and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol.

Document FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.9/Add.1 and FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.9/Add.2 contain a joint submission by Liechtenstein, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea, as well as submissions by the Russian Federation, Switzerland and the Republic of Korea on views on modalities and procedures for the new market-based mechanism.

Document FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.15 contains submissions from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on information relevant to emissions from fuel used for international aviation and maritime transport.

Document FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.14/Add.1 contains a submission from Canada containing its views on the experience with the revision of the UNFCCC reporting guidelines on annual inventories for Parties included in Annex I to the Convention and with the updated CRF Reporter.

Document FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.6/Add.1 contains the submission by the EU containing its views on the content of the workshop on technical and scientific aspects of ecosystems with high-carbon reservoirs not covered by other agenda items under the Convention.

Document FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.11/Add.1 contains the submissions by Australia, the EU, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Switzerland and the US containing their views on a framework for various approaches.
