UNFCCC Releases Revised Workshop Report on Equitable Access to Sustainable Development

The UNFCCC released the revised report on the workshop on equitable access to sustainable development (EASD) (FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/INF.3/Rev.1).

Discussions at the meeting dealt with, inter alia: the context for equity and EASD; the definition of equity; application of the equity principle; and possible next steps.

15 August 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the revised report on the workshop on equitable access to sustainable development (EASD) (FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/INF.3/Rev.1). The workshop was held in Bonn, Germany, on 16 May 2012.

The workshop, organized by the Secretariat under the guidance of the Chair of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA), provided participants the opportunity to exchange views on the issue of equitable access to sustainable development and equity. The workshop aimed at increasing the understanding of EASD and facilitate negotiations related to a shared vision for long-term cooperative action. The meeting addressed, inter alia: the context for equity and EASD; the definition of equity; application of the equity principle; and possible next steps.

At its 17th session, the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) agreed to consider the issue of EASD through a workshop to be held at the first part of the 15th session of the AWG-LCA. [Publication: Revised Workshop Report on Equitable Access to Sustainable Development]
