21 November 2012: The UNFCCC released an information document on financial support provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the preparation of national communications by non-Annex I Parties. The report includes an addendum to the GEF report to the Conference of the Parties (COP), which contains a table on the status of national communications from such Parties (FCCC/SBI/2012/INF.13 and FCCC/CP/2012/6/Add.1, respectively).
The report contains the following details on national communications by each non-Annex I Party: submission date of the last report to the Conference of the Parties (COP); approval date of the most recent national communication project; amount approved; date of initial disbursement of funds; approximate date of completion of draft national communication; approximate date of national communication submission; and project activity status. The UN Development Programme (UNEP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the two implementing agencies, compiled the report and then submitted it to the GEF via the National Communications Support Programme (NCSP).
At its 36th session, the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 36), invited the GEF to provide information on its activities on the preparation of national communications and biennial update reports by Parties not included in Annex I of the UNFCCC for consideration by SBI 37.
