UNFCCC15 May 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released an information document on financial support provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the preparation of national communications by non-Annex I Parties (FCCC/SBI/2013/INF.7).

The report includes a table on the status of national communications from 143 parties, including information on the dates of approval of funding and disbursement of funds, as well as the approximate date of submission of the national communications for consideration by the 38th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI).

The report contains the following details on national communications by each non-Annex I Party: submission date of the last report to the Conference of the Parties (COP); approval date of the most recent national communication project; amount approved; date of initial disbursement of funds; approximate date of completion of draft national communication; approximate date of national communication submission; and project activity status. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the two implementing agencies, compiled the report and then submitted it to the GEF via the National Communications Support Programme (NCSP).

At its 37th session, SBI invited the GEF to continue to provide information on its activities on the preparation of national communications and biennial update reports by Parties not included in Annex I of the UNFCCC for consideration by SBI 38.
