UNFCCC Releases Provisional Agenda for SBSTA 37

The UNFCCC Secretariat released the provisional agenda for the 37th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 37), which will take place in Doha, Qatar.

The session will consider, inter alia: methodological guidance for activities relating to REDD+; the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change; the forum on response measures; and issues relating to agriculture.

13 September 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the provisional agenda for the 37th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 37), which will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 26 November-1 December 2012. Annotations to the provisional agenda are also included.

The session will consider, inter alia: methodological guidance for activities relating to REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries); the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change; the forum on response measures; and issues relating to agriculture.

On methodological issues under the Convention, the agenda includes, among other sub-items: a work programme on the revision of guidelines for the review of biennial reports and national communications for developed countries; general guidelines for domestic measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) of domestically-supported Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs); and emissions from fuel used for international aviation and maritime transport. The agenda item on methodological issues under the Kyoto Protocol comprises several sub-items, including on: carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) in geological formations as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM); and land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF).
