UNFCCC4 December 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released online a new edition of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Methodology Booklet. This fourth edition of the Booklet contains information updated as of the 69th meeting of the CDM Executive Board (EB), which took place in November 2012.

The new CDM Methodology Booklet is available in two formats, as a downloadable file of the entire publication, and as a website from which one can download parts of the booklet as separate files. The document also newly contains, within the introduction section, special segments on Programmes of Activities (PoAs) and suppressed demand.

Section II of the CDM Methodology Booklet lists icons, abbreviations and glossary terms useful to understanding the booklet and CDM methodologies.

Section III of the booklet addresses methodologies for CDM project activities including small-scale and large-scale CDM project activities. The section lists tools relevant to project activities, discussing each tool’s usefulness and role. The section then lists specific methodologies, such as analysis of the least-cost fuel option for seasonally-operating biomass cogeneration plants, and follows with descriptions and illustrations of factors such as: typical projects for this methodology; type of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation action; considerations under which the methodology is applicable; important parameters; baseline scenario; and project scenario.

Section IV outlines methodologies for afforestation and reforestation (A/R) CDM activities. This section offers short descriptions of relevant tools, such as a tool for testing significance of GHG emissions in A/R CDM project activities. The section then highlights descriptions and illustrations of specific methodologies. [Publication: CDM Methodology Booklet] [Publication: CDM Methodology Booklet by Separate Files]
