UNFCCC Releases COP 17 Report

The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, held in Durban, South Africa, which concluded with the adoption of the "Durban Platform," a set of decisions that lay the ground for adopting a legal agreement on climate change as soon as possible, and no later than 2015.

15 March 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, held in Durban, South Africa, from 28 November – 11 December 2011.

The first part of the report consists of the proceedings of the session (FCCC/CP/2011/9). The second part outlines the action taken by COP 17, namely the decisions adopted by the parties, which are split into two addenda to the report (FCCC/CP/2011/9/Add.1) and (FCCC/CP/2011/9/Add.2). COP 17 concluded with the adoption of the “Durban Platform,” a set of decisions that lay the ground for adopting a legal agreement on climate change as soon as possible, and no later than 2015. Work on this future agreement will be carried out under a new group called the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action.
