UNFCCC Releases Addendum to COP 15 Agenda

UNFCCC13 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released an addendum to the provisional annotated agenda (FCCC/CP/2009/1/Add.1) for the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the UNFCCC, which will take place from 7-18 December 2009, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
This meeting will be held in conjunction with the COP serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol at its fifth session (COP/MOP 5), the 31st sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 31) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 31), the tenth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 10), and the eighth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 8). The agenda provides an overview of additional information regarding arrangements for the sessions and the high-level segment. The agenda states that the Government of Denmark intends to invite all Heads of State and government to come to Copenhagen and to close COP 15 at the summit level on 18 December, where they will receive the results of negotiations launched by decision 1/CMP.1 and decision 1/CP.13 (the Bali Action Plan).
The supplementary provisional annotated agenda (FCCC/KP/CMP/2009/1/Add.1) for COP/MOP 5 has also been published. It contains additional information on arrangements for the session and the high-level segment. It also reflects a request from the Government of Kazakhstan to include an item on the agenda. COP/MOP 5 will consider inter alia: reports of the subsidiary bodies, and decisions and conclusions arising there from; report of the AWG-KP; consideration of proposals by parties for amendments to the Kyoto Protocol; issues relating to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Joint Implementation (JI) and the Adaptation Fund; report of the Compliance Committee; amendment of the Kyoto Protocol in respect of procedures and mechanisms relating to compliance; and review of implementation of commitments and of other provisions of the Kyoto Protocol.[Additional Information on the Session and the High-Level Segment][Supplementary Provisional Annotated Agenda]
