UNFCCC Publishes Tianjin Meeting Party Submissions

UNFCCC receives submissions on finance, EITs and near-term climate mitigation under the agenda item on the preparation of an outcome to be presented to COP 16 in Cancun.

9 October 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published two documents containing submissions received during the 12th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 12).

The submissions pertain to the agenda item on the preparation of an outcome to be presented to the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) for adoption to enable the full, effective and sustained implementation of the Convention through long-term cooperative action now, up to and beyond 2012. The first document (FCCC/AWGLCA/2010/MISC.6/Add.1) contains five submissions on a new fund and a new body from: Bangladesh; Belgium, for the EU; Malawi, on behalf of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs); Philippines, on behalf of the G-77/ China; and the US. The second document (FCCC/AWGLCA/2010/MISC.6/Add.2) consists of two submissions: one from Belarus on behalf of the Russian Federation and Ukraine on provisions under new post-2012 climate change agreements for Annex I parties undergoing the process of transition to a market economy (EITs); and one from the Federated States of Micronesia in respect to a decision on a programme of work on opportunities for near-term climate mitigation.
