story highlights

The submissions from Belgium, on behalf of the EU, and Belize on the research dialogue and the workshop to be held in conjunction with SBSTA 34 will be considered in Cancun.

20 October 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions (FCCC/SBSTA/2010/MISC.12) from Belgium, on behalf of the EU, and Belize on views on issues related to the research dialogue, including possible ways to enhance its effectiveness and the workshop to be held in conjunction with the 34th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 34).

At its 32nd session, SBSTA agreed that the research dialogue between parties and regional and international climate change research programmes and organizations should be continued at SBSTA 34 and beyond. It also noted the need to further enhance interaction between the science and policy communities by strengthening the research dialogue. Parties were to provide to the Secretariat their views on: possible ways to enhance the effectiveness of the research dialogue in the future; the workshop to be held in conjunction with SBSTA 34 and; ways to make information from research programmes and organizations available on the UNFCCC website. These submissions will be considered by SBSTA 33, which will be held in Cancun, Mexico from 30 November-4 December 2010. [The Submissions]
