19 March 2020: The UNFCCC has published eight submissions (FCCC/SBSTA/2010/MISC.1) on views on issues relating to the 2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines and the revision of the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines. The submissions are from Australia, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Spain on behalf of the EU, and the US.

This follows an agreement by the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) at its 30th session to launch a work programme in 2010 for the revision of the “Guidelines for the preparation of national communications by Parties included in Annex I to the Convention, Part I: UNFCCC reporting guidelines on annual inventories,” including the common reporting format tables. Parties were invited to submit their views to the Secretariat by 15 February 2010, on: the process and timelines for implementing the work programme; issues related to the revision of the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines; methodological issues related to reporting when using the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories; and areas in which the SBSTA may consider inviting the IPCC to carry out additional work and contribute to the work programme. These views will be considered by SBSTA at its 32nd session, to be held in Bonn, Germany, from 31 May-11 June 2010. [The Submissions]
