UNFCCC Publishes Status of Submissions and Review of Fifth National Communications

UNFCCC Secretariat has published information on the status of submission and review of fifth national communication (NC5s) under the Convention and its Kyoto Protocol from Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) as of 14 November 2011.

The information will be considered by the 35th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which will take place in Durban, South Africa.

UNFCCC15 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a note (FCCC/SBI/2011/INF.8) that provides information on the status of submission and review of fifth national communication (NC5s) under the Convention and its Kyoto Protocol from Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) as of 14 November 2011.

As of 14 November 2011, the Secretariat had organized 32 in-depth reviews of NC5s, including 24 in-country reviews. The NC5s of eight parties were reviewed in centralized reviews in accordance with decision 10/CMP.6, namely the NC5s of Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Monaco, Slovakia and Slovenia. The in-country reviews of the NC5s of the remaining nine parties (Australia, Belarus, Bulgaria, the EU, Iceland, Luxembourg, the Russian Federation, Turkey, and the US) are planned for early 2012. The note will be considered by the 35th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which will take place in Durban, South Africa, from 29 November-3 December 2011.
