26 April 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the centralized review of the 2011 annual submission of Slovenia (FCCC/ARR/2011/SVN), which shows that total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions decreased by 3.3% between 1990 and 2009.

The Expert Review Team (ERT) that conducted the centralized review concluded that Slovenia’s inventory submission was prepared and reported in accordance with the UNFCCC reporting guidelines. It also concluded that although the inventory submission, common reporting format (CRF) tables and national inventory report were generally complete, Slovenia has not reported certain information, such as carbon stock changes in organic soils in land converted to forest land. The ERT identified the following cross-cutting issues for improvement: maintenance of time-series consistency when performing recalculations due to methodological improvements; improvement of quality control procedures in order to minimize inconsistencies in the CRF tables and the national inventory report, and between them; and further improvement of the transparency of the national inventory report. The ERT also formulated several recommendations relating to methodological improvements, collection of activity data and development of emission factors.
