UNFCCC Publishes SBSTA Documents

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published: a note synthesizing views of Parties and observers on modalities and procedures for carbon dioxide capture and storage in geological formations as clean development mechanism (CDM) project activities; and the report of SBSTA 34.

UNFCCC4 August 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has published a note (FCCC/SBSTA/2011/INF.7) containing a synthesis of views from Parties and observer organizations on modalities and procedures for carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) in geological formations as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project activities.

The synthesis was prepared with a view to facilitating a technical workshop and the drafting by the Secretariat of modalities and procedures for consideration of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice at its 35th session (SBSTA 35)

The UNFCCC Secretariat also has published the report of SBSTA 34 (FCCC/SBSTA/2011/2), which was held in Bonn, Germany, from 6-16 June 2011. SBSTA 34 considered items including: the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change; methodological guidance for activities relating to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest stocks in developing countries; forum on the impact of the implementation of response measures at the 34th and 35th sessions of the subsidary bodies; and methodological issues under the Convention and Kyoto Protocol.
