UNFCCC Publishes SBI Documents for Cancun

The documents address GEF guidance, preparation and implementation of NAPAs, and the future mandate of the LEG, for consideration in Cancun.

30 September 2010: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published several documents for consideration by the 33rd session of Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which will take place in Cancun, Mexico, from 30 November-4 December 2010.

Three submissions (FCCC/SBI/2010/MISC.5) have been published on elements to be taken into account in developing guidance to the Global Environment Facility (GEF) from: Belgium, on behalf of the EU; Bolivia; and Lesotho, on behalf of the least developed countries (LDCs).

The UNFCCC Secretariat has also published submissions (FCCC/SBI/2010/MISC.9) from parties on information on the preparation and implementation of national adaptation programmes of action (NAPAs), including on accessing funds from the LDC Fund (LDCF). The party submissions are from: Belgium, on behalf of the EU; Benin; Chad; Guinea; Haiti; Kiribati; Lesotho, on behalf of the LDCs; Malawi; Mali; Nepal; Niger; Timor-Leste; and Togo. Two submissions from accredited intergovernmental organizations have been posted on the UNFCCC website.

A document (FCCC/SBI/2010/MISC.10) on views on possible elements for a future mandate for the LDCs Expert Group (LEG) including its renewal and expansion has also been published. The submissions are from: Belgium for the EU; Benin; Chad; Guinea; Haiti; Kiribati; Lesotho, on behalf of the LDCs; Malawi; Mali; Nepal; Niger; and Togo.
