UNFCCC Publishes SB Documents for Bonn Session

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published documents for 34th sessions of the subsidiary bodies on: materiality under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM); work programme and possible forum on response measures; research dialogue; and the effectiveness of the Nairobi Work Programme.

15 April 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a number of documents in preparation for the 34th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which will take place in Bonn, Germany, from 6-16 June 2011.

Nine submissions (FCCC/SB/2011/MISC.1) on information and views on issues that could be addressed at the joint workshop on matters relating to Article 2, paragraph 3 (adverse effects of policies and measures), and Article 3, paragraph 14 (adverse effects) of the Kyoto Protocol, have been received from: Australia, China, Colombia, Grenada on behalf of AOSIS, Hungary on behalf of the EU, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.

Views on the issue of materiality under the Clean Development Mechanism (FCCC/SBSTA/2011/MISC.2) have also been received from China, Hungary for the EU, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).

Eleven submissions (FCCC/SB/2011/MISC.2) concerning views on the modalities for the operationalization of the work programme and on a possible forum on response measures have been published from: Algeria, Australia, China, Grenada on behalf of AOSIS, Hungary on behalf of the EU, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Uzbekistan, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Labour Organization (ILO). SBSTA 34 will consider these submissions.

Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan have also submitted (FCCC/SBSTA/2011/MISC.1) views on issues related to the research dialogue, including possible ways to enhance its effectiveness and the workshop to be held in conjunction with SBSTA 34.

Further views and information on the effectiveness of the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change in fulfilling its objective, expected outcome, scope of work and modalities (FCCC/SBSTA/2011/MISC.3) have been published from: Australia, Grenada for AOSIS, Hungary for the EU, Japan, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, UNDP, UN-HABITAT, the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR), and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
