22 March 2010: The UNFCCC has published the annotated provisional agenda (FCCC/KP/AWG/2010/1) for the 11th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP 11), which is due to convene in conjunction the ninth session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 9), from 9-11 April 2010, in Bonn, Germany.

During the session, in addition to other items, the AWG-KP is expected to elect a Chair, Vice-Chair and Rapporteur for 2010. The AWG-KP will be invited to consider how to ensure that work on all outstanding issues will be concluded by the end of 2010, including the need for any technical input to support this work. The AWG-KP will also be invited to consider, and agree on, the modalities and organization of work in 2010, as well as the number of sessions and their length in order to ensure that the group’s work is presented to the sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 6).
The scenario note for AWG-KP 11 (FCCC/KP/AWG/2010/2) has also been released. In the note, the AWG-KP Chair suggests that the first session of the AWG-KP in 2010 be devoted to further advancing its work and to setting the stage for the remainder of 2010. To facilitate these discussions, the Chair informs of his intention to consult informally with parties prior to the start of the session. The note further indicates that arrangements for two plenary meetings have been made, and that agreement reached on the work plan for 2010 will be incorporated in the conclusions of the session to be adopted during the final plenary.
